The EU Pet Travel framework

10 of the countries here share one legal framework: the EU Pet Travel Scheme for the non-commercial movement of dogs, cats and ferrets. Meet it once and the same core steps apply across the bloc — but each country still sets its own dangerous-breed rules, approved entry points and registration details, which is what the individual pages cover.

    ISO microchip first

    An ISO 11784/11785 microchip must be in place before the rabies vaccination — otherwise the vaccine isn't recognised.

    Rabies vaccination + waiting period

    A valid rabies vaccination, given after the chip, with a waiting period before travel. The exact minimum age and wait are on each country page.

    EU animal health certificate

    An official, endorsed certificate (or an EU pet passport for residents) valid for entry within a set window.

    Titer test — unlisted origins only

    A rabies antibody test is required only when travelling from a country not on the EU "listed" set; listed origins skip it.
